Rolling Girl

~Your PoV~
I kept walking, up, and up, and up again. After reaching the top step, I inserted the key and open the door, the one which leads to my one and only secure place that provided one thing my own room doesn't, solitude. It was the highest room in my school, where you could see everything around you from its windows. The only thing in there was a grand piano and a chair in the center. I slowly walked over to it, my footsteps were echoing all around the room, and sat down on the chair, setting my bag down next to it and opening the piano's keyboard cover. I closed my eyes, trying to remember the melody I've written within my head, and started playing.

The piano rings throughout the room, and around the area, carrying the melody that I've spent time on. Within my head, I was replaying the events of the day; almost everyone was bullying me, laughing at me. How I wished I could just end it all…

*ring ring!*

"Ah!" I opened my eyes, and looked around for a source of the sound, tears falling down from my eyes, it was my cell phone.

'Strange, I didn't know I started to cry.' I looked at my cell and saw that it was a text from my mother.

'Where are you?! You should be home already!'

I sighed, as I put my phone back, not even caring about responding. All I wanted was to stay here, isolated from everyone else. Sure, I had some friends, but sometimes it's like they don't even care about me. The one I consider my true friend, who's always there for me, was an old friend that moved away when we were young. His name is Arthur Kirkland. He and I would come over to each other's homes and we would play a game, or we'd try to curse his brothers, or something else. When we became 10 years old, he and his family had to move back to England, so I was left alone. We kept in touch by mail at first, and then we changed to emails, since it's faster for us.

I looked outside to see that the sun was setting. Standing up, I sighed and grabbed my bag, heading out the door, making sure it was locked after. I put the key in my pocket and headed home.

"Where have you been?" was the first thing I heard from my mother, when I enter my house.

"I was practicing piano." I stated clearly to her. "It's not like I was out partying or something." I looked at her in the eyes. "Like you didn't know that." I ran up to my room and fell onto my bed. I grabbed my laptop, turning it on, and checked my mail, hoping that Arthur has replied. He hasn't. Instead, he was online.

'Did he stay online to chat with me?' I clicked his name and started the conversation.

Hey Arthur.

Hello _______. How has your day been?

Same as usual.
I couldn't tell him the truth, about those guys who were bullying me. What about you?

Same, also. Listen, _______, I have great news. My family and I are taking a week vacation, and we're coming to visit you and your family.

'Oh great, he might just figure out about me. Well, might as well tell my parents about this.'

Sounds great! I can't wait to see you again! When are you coming?

We'll be there in a few days.

Is there a problem?

Nope! No problem! ^^ I'll see you then!

Okay, see you then.

Arthur is now offline.

I stared at my laptop for a moment, then shut it off and laid on my bed.

'Man, what am I supposed to do now? Pretend like everything's alright? Well, I've been doing that, but to his face? I don't even know. He's pretty much my best friend; I can't lie to him…can I? No, it's no problem.'

I rolled over and covered my head with my pillow. I closed my eyes, and dozed off. That night, I dreamt about Arthur and I playing as kids, and rolling around.

"Hey _______?" Arthur looked at me.

"Yeah Arthur?" I rolled back over and looked at him.

"I'm always wondering about something; why do you always roll around?" I giggled.

"It's because when I do that, I could see the world in another way…"

-------

I opened my eyes to another dull day, and got ready for another painful day of school. Before I left, I informed my parents about the Kirkland's visit in a few days.

--------

"Oh look it's Rolling Girl!" Someone spoke out as I walked down the hallway.
"Hey Rolling Girl! Are you still going to roll today?" Laughter started filling the hallway.
"Rolling at this age is just too weird!"
"Yeah! You're such a weirdo!" I stopped at looked over at the guys who spoke.

"You know, you keep saying the same thing every day to me. Why not go get a new insult book?" I stated plainly as the sound of other's "ooo!" and "oh!" filled the hallway again. I turned and continued walking.

'Whatever they may say, I must keep on rolling with it.'

I turned the corner to walk down the stairs, but ended up falling down them. My books and papers were scattered over the floor. I looked back up to the top of the stairs and saw several people laughing at me. Tears started filling my eyes, but before they could spill, I was able to gather my stuff and run off to my councilor. She was the only person in the school I could be comfortable with. As I ran, I accidentally bumped into someone. I wasn't able to see them clearly, but the person had short black hair and he seemed to have a Japanese accent. I quickly muttered a, "I'm very sorry. Excuse me." before I ran off again. I overheard the person's conversation as I left.

"…Who was that? She seemed to be crying." the Japanese asked.
"Oh her? That was just _______ ________. Almost everyone calls her Rolling Girl." Another voice, which was louder than the Japanese, answered back.

I was surprised at how the person didn't know who I was, since I was pretty much the school's only outcast; or maybe he did, but didn't know what I looked like.

--------

After several turns and stairs, I was finally there, in front of the councilor's office. I opened the door and was warmly greeted by some of the other councilors.

"Ms.Sakine1* is in her office," one of them told me. I nodded and entered Ms.Sakine's office.

"Hello __-! What happened to you?! You're bleeding!" She opened her mouth in shock at my appearance. I hadn't realized I was bleeding, nor that my tears have started flowing.

"…Someone tripped me again…down the stairs this time." Her eyes widened at my explanation. "By the way, did we get a new Japanese student?"

"Ah, yes we did. But he has been here for about two months now." She gestured me to come over to a chair next to her. I proceeded to do so while she went to grab some medical supplies and help treat my wounds.

"…Really? Wow, I'm slow." She chuckled.

"Well, he is in completely different classes than you."

"Hey, Ms.Sakine? Can you make me excused from classes today?"

"_______, you know I can't do that unless it's something serious."

"I know. It's just that things have gotten worse now, and there's too much stuff going on in my head lately." She stared at me for a while, and then sighed.

"Alright, but you have to stay within the school's campus. I'll have someone to drop off your homework here, so remember to visit before you leave." I nodded and stood up.

"Thank you."

"Ah, and one more thing," I stopped in my tracks to look back at her. "Are you still taking good care of the piano?"

"Of course."

"And how's your song going along?" She smiled at me.

"I'm almost done with it."

"That's good. Be sure to show it to me sometime."

"I will."
Why do I keep posting previews?!

1*: Meiko Sakine. I chose her at random

This is just a preview. I swear, this is probably going to be REALLY long... and there might be a hint of ReaderXJapan...
